Kenneth C. Gumz, age 80 of Porter, IN, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2019. He was born on August 22, 1939 in Valparaiso, IN, to Kenneth and Clara Gumz, both of whom preceded him in death.

 

On April 8, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, he married the love of his life, Sharon Weaver Gumz, who survives in Porter, IN. He is also survived by his loving children: Michael (Marilyn) Gumz of Milford, IN, Krystal (Gary) Hartrunft of Chesterton, IN and Jeffrey C. Gumz of Colorado Springs, CO; his 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Marlene Miller of Valparaiso, IN and Betty (Richard) Deso of North Judson, IN; and by his sister-in-law, Cindy Schroeder of Michigan City, IN. 

 

Kenneth proudly served his county in the United States Military. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and loved hunting, fishing, archery, and mushroom hunting.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E 1100 N, Chesterton, IN with Reverend Erich Fickel officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at White- Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.

 

Memorial donations may be given to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
