Beverly Ann Hudgins

Beverly Ann Hudgins, 91, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on March 5, 2024. She passed away in her home where she was living with her daughter and family.
Beverly was born on January 2, 1933 in Buffalo, New York. She was the only daughter of William and Gladys Sharp. She grew up in Buffalo and spent summers in the country where she enjoyed horseback riding, playing with her beagle, and any other activity that involved nature and the great outdoors.
Upon graduation from high school, Beverly earned an academic scholarship and attended the University of Buffalo, where she studied Pharmacy. Beverly excelled academically and was a member of Lambda Kappa Sigma. She graduated with honors in 1954.
Beverly's career as a Pharmacist spanned over forty years. She served at Buffalo General Hospital and Buffalo VA hospital, where she earned the distinguished honor of serving as Assistant Chief of Pharmacy. Later, Beverly moved to Florida and served at Gainesville VA Hospital and Daytona VA Hospital.
Beverly was a member of Chesterton United Methodist Church for many years before moving to Fishers in 2021.
Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Carol A. Bookwalter (Brad) of Fishers, IN and Susie J. McKnight of Buffalo, NY. She also is survived by five grandchildren; Dominic McKnight, Melody McKnight, Claudia Yow, Jacob Bookwalter and Julia Bookwalter. Five great grandchildren also survive her; Dominic Jr., Darcy, Elliot, Lorenzo, and Olivia, and Jeremiah (due on April 29th).
Beverly is preceded in death by her first husband Emil Shafer (Feb 12, 1926-Aug 26, 1991), her second husband James R. Hudgins (Aug 23, 1932 - Apr 30, 2020), her daughter Janet D. Shafer (Dec 16, 1960 - May 4, 1993), and her great-grandson Jeremiah Isaiah Chambers (March 26, 2004 - April 30, 2022).
Services will be held at the Chesterton United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, March 13, 2024. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
