William Politano Obituary

William Frank Politano, age 61 of Chesterton, passed away peacefully on July 11, surrounded by loved ones, including all six of his siblings, after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late Robert and Joan Politano on July 30, 1962.

William (Bill) attended St. Patrick’s School for grades 1-6 and graduated from Chesterton High School in 1980. From an early age, he was known for his industrious spirit, starting his first paper route at age 12.  Throughout high school and beyond, William worked diligently, often holding two jobs simultaneously to save enough money to buy his first home for himself and his wife, Kris, who tragically passed away in 2007. William spent the majority of his career with Paulson's Oil, where he started as a truck operator and advanced his career into management.

William is survived by the love of his life, Shonda Schultz and her mother, Sandy Trunk, siblings: Mary Branham (William Branham), Joseph Politano (Carol Politano), Barbara Poparad (Brian Waldo), Robert Politano, Jr., Patricia Decker (Brad Decker), all of Chesterton, IN, and Kathleen Jennings (Mark Jennings) of Springfield, VA, his nieces and nephews:  William Branham (Nicole Branham), Brian Branham, Joseph Eppolito, Jacob Eppolito (Amy Eppolito), Nicholas Politano, Zachary Decker, Emily Decker, Abigail Decker, all of Chesterton, IN, and Adaire Bennett (Nathan Bennett) of Groveton, VA and Madeleine Baxter (Logan Baxter) of Springfield, VA.

In addition to his parents, William is proceeded in death by his wife, Kristine Politano, Sister-in-law Dora Bowman Politano, brothers-in-law, Bill Poparad and Russ Talbutt.

Bill was a compassionate man who derived great joy from supporting his family and friends. He was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him, leaving a lasting impact with his kindness.  He was most at home outdoors and loved golfing, taking long walks in the woods with Shonda and spending time on the lake boating and fishing. Although he did not have children of his own, Bill was adored by his many nieces and nephews and his 14 grandnieces and grandnephews.  Everyone cherished the time spent at Uncle Bill’s for pool parties, barbecues, playing cards and fireworks.

Viewing will be at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton, IN on Wednesday, July 17 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm presided over by Father Jon Plavcan.
