Walter Frederick Weidman passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022, in Michigan City, Indiana. He was born in Chicago, IL on February 19, 1934, to Walter Paul and Lyda T. (Johnson) Weidman both of whom preceded him in death.
On November 23, 1963, he married the love of his life, Susan Verona. They spent 33 wonderful years together until her passing in 1997.
Walter spent his childhood in Chesterton and graduated from Jackson Township High School. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army. He then went on to graduate from Valparaiso Technical Institute. This training prepared him for a career as a Field Engineer at General Electric, where he worked for over 30 years. Often, he would mention how grateful he was for the job at General Electric and had calculated that in 2024, he would have been retired longer than he worked.
In 2003, he moved to the warm and sunny climate of Arizona. He made many new friends and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years fishing, golfing, and treasure hunting at local thrift stores.
He deeply valued the lifelong friendships with his many cousins, friends, and coworkers.
Walter is survived by his four daughters: Beth (Terry) Grimm of East Lansing, MI, Carla Weidman of Tampa FL, Tracy Weidman of Chicago, IL and Rene Weidman of San Diego, CA; his four grandchildren: Jack Grimm of Lansing, MI, Amanda (Andrew) Barnhart of Nashville, TN, Abigail Grimm of Nashville, TN and Kyle Weidman of Tampa, FL; and one great granddaughter, Lorelei Barnhart of Nashville, TN.
He lived a full and healthy life.
