Susan Kay Brobst, age 77 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1942 in Valparaiso, IN to Clayton Lawrence Brobst and Lou Cecelia Brobst (née Bross), both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Kelly Anne Best (nee Tressler) and Kimberly Laura Gillikin (nee Tressler); her adoring grandchildren: Andrew Paul Gillikin, Zachary James Gillikin, Clayton Thomas Best, Emily Susan Best, Myles Dylan Best, and Casey Anne Best; her loving sister, Rona Jean Edquist (Kenneth); and by her numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Carol Tinsley (H. Guice); her brother, Duane Brobst; and her sister, Arlette Carstens (nee Brobst).
Susan had a great love for music. She spent years as a choir director, taught guitar lessons to eager learners, and was a devoted member of the folk group, “Granny, Rat & Sue.” She was also a lifelong knitter and seamstress, and she loved sharing her talents by teaching others how to knit.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 3 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Masks are highly recommended when coming into the funeral home. CDC guidelines must be embraced, and social distancing is imperative for the protection of the family and the community.
