Stephen Joseph “Joe” Tannish IV- 

       Chesterton, IN - Stephen Joseph “Joe” Tannish IV, age 23, of Chesterton, IN passed away unexpectedly at home Thursday, July 22, 2021.  He was born January 18, 1998.  Joe was a lifelong resident of Chesterton and graduated from high school in 2016.

       Joe worked at Warner Petroleum as a Merchant Marine deckhand on Lake Michigan and worked a long side his father, the Captain. Joe loved his job. He was so proud of the work he did and was excited to tell everyone and posted about it frequently on social media. Other recent employment included Calumet River Fleeting as deckhand and Northern Plant Services performing industrial cleaning.

       He routinely worked out at the YMCA to improve his physique for all to see. He could strike up a great conversation with anyone, young or old. Joe loved to be the center of attention and we will miss his enthusiasm dearly. He also loved having his picture taken as much as possible of himself and with friends and family.

       Joe was a member and confirmed at the Chesterton United Methodist Church. He was a state champion swimmer with the Duneland Swim Club and qualified for Mega Zone.

       Joe dearly loved his family and friends. He is survived by his parents; Stephen and Amy Tannish; brother Jon Paul Tannish and sister Aliza Jane Tannish of Chesterton; girlfriend Vanessa Krause of Valparaiso. Surviving Grandparents are Nancy Shick and Richard Symes of Ashtabula, Ohio. Aunts and Uncles; Neill (Colleen) Tannish, Jamie (Rick) Tannish, Sean (Karen) Tannish, Barry (Lisa) Shick, Joel (former spouse Candy Kinney) Shick, Wendy Shick and Michele Shick. Numerous cousins, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by grandmother Janet Symes; grandfather Marvin Shick; Uncle Clay Shick.

       Visitation will be held at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

       Funeral service will be held at Chesterton United Methodist Church 434 S 2nd St. Chesterton, IN on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Chesterton Cemetery, 300 East Porter Avenue, Chesterton, IN. A reception luncheon will take place at the Methodist Church following interment.
