Rosemary W. Morr, age 94 of Chesterton, IN, formerly of Fairlawn, Ohio, passed away on August 13, 2024. She was born on January 13, 1930 in Toledo, OH to Lec and Maysel (Blaine) Wangler, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving children, Rachel (Michael Stoner) Morr of Chesterton, IN and Eric Morr of Akron, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry P. Morr, Jr. on March 7, 2015.
Rosemary was a strong, kind and independent woman who lived an incredible life serving her country and her community. Raised in Loudonville, Ohio, she then went on to graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 1952, she worked at WLW-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio until she was able to join the Department of State later that year. She worked as a cryptographer at the American Embassy in Bonn, Germany. It is at this embassy in 1956, where she met and married her husband Harry, a Marine guard at the embassy. Rosemary continued with the State Department until 1962 until her and Harry moved back to the States and she took a job with the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland. After that, she took time off from work to raise her family, but continued volunteer work with soldiers at the amputee hospital in Brecksville, Ohio, and later volunteered at Akron General Hospital in the emergency room.
In 1968, the family moved to Bombay, India where she worked part time at the American consulate for the Atomic Energy Commission. While in Bombay, she learned to play Mah-Jong. This became a favorite hobby of hers for years and she taught her daughter Rachel to play. In 1980, she went back to work for O’Neil’s Department Store in the Summit Mall. She was a cash register trainer and an assistant in the personnel and cash departments. She worked there as it merged with Kaufmans and now Macy’s into her 70’s.
Rosemary, also enjoyed playing bridge, riding horses, traveling and was an avid reader. At 85 years old, she learned how to use an iPad so she could text and FaceTime with family, play games and read the local paper. Rosemary’s ray of light, generosity and kindness in this life will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
No services will be held at this time.
