 Richard Friday Obituary

       Richard W. Friday, age 101 of The Town of Burns Harbor, passed away on August 16, 2023. 

       He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Friday and his mother, Bessie Hineline Sederberg;  a son, James Michael; his wife, LaVere; a granddaughter, Erin; and a brother, Les. 

       He is survived by his son, Raymond (Shang Mei Liu); three grandchildren: Eric of Niles, MI, Adam (Jodie) of Gary, IN, and Amie of Woodland, TX; step-granddaughter, Laura (Scott) Horton of Portage, IN; five great-grandchildren: Mark, Matthew, Taylor, Ryan and Alex; step-great-grandchildren: Misty, Haley, Cheyanne, and Michelle Horton; his siblings: Henry (Julie) of Rolling Prairie, IN, Barbara Newton (Richard) of Green Valley, AZ, and Pat Carlson of Marcellus, MI;  his sister-in-law, Doris Friday of Chesterton, IN; and many nieces and nephews. 

       Richard graduated from Chesterton High School in 1940, attended Purdue University North Central, and retired from Federal Mogul, the former Anderson Company, in 1987. He was a charter Board member of the Valparaiso Boys Club, which is now known as The Boys and Girls Club of Porter County. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 379 for over sixty years. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and avidly participated in golf and bowling.

       A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends for a Memorial Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
