Paul Perak, age 83 of Burns Harbor, IN, passed away on December 21, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1941 in Franklin County, Illinois to John Perak and Adela Wallace, both of whom preceded him in death.
On December 1, 1984, he married the love of his life, Grace (Logan) Perak, who survives in Burns Harbor, IN. He is also survived by his children: Angela Lebron of Valparaiso, IN, Nicole Thompson of Crown Point, IN, Cathy Fernandez of Dallas, TX, Sherry (Rick) Aguilar of Dallas, TX, Donald Thompson Jr. of Burns Harbor, IN, and David (Heather) Thompson of Chesterton, IN; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and by his sisters: Julie Folk McHenry of Illinois and Jean Gloria Davis of Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Violet McMahon and Mary Ann Matules, and his brother Leroy Medvrich.
Paul proudly served his country as a mechanic in the United States Army. Later he worked as a piledriver foreman and helped build many notable fixtures in Chicago, like Soldier Field and the Shedd Aquarium. He was a member of the Chicago Carpenters Union for 50 years. He was able to fix anything and everything, from houses to cars, and enjoyed working in his garage. He was also a talented welder. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, being in nature, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive family and friends for visitation at 11 AM, with service to follow at 1 PM.
Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
