Patricia A. (Leon) Sutherland

       Patricia A. (Leon) Sutherland, age 89, of Porter, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2021. She was born December 31, 1931 in Gary, IN to Cándido and Helen (Ferguson) Leon, both of whom preceded her in death.
       She is survived by her son, Craig Tilden of Porter, IN; her granddaughters, Christina Tilden of Chesterton, IN and Corinne (Nathaniel) Peffers of Porter, IN; by her great-grandchildren William Brizendine, Izabella Brizendine, Haleigh Sutton, Skylar Peffers, and Owen Peffers; and by her many nieces and nephews. 
       She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen McDermott and Audrey Wampler; and by her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Tilden.

       Known by many as Miss Patsy, she was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Chesterton for many years. She was the definition of selfless, spending countless hours at her church, serving, teaching, and caring for others. She immersed herself in her faith and instilled that faith in others.
       A sweet soul, full of smiles and laughter, Patsy never hesitated to hand out a compliment or give a hug. She had a special way with people and made an impact on each and every person she came across. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Always full of style and grace.  
       She proudly worked for the Chesterton Police Department for 24 years retiring in 1994.  

       A private family Graveside Service will be held at Chesterton Cemetery.
