Patricia Dorothy (Tite) Sechrist

       Patricia Dorothy Sechrist (nee Tite), age 96 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 10, 1929, in Norwalk, OH to George and Sarah (Francis) Tite, both of whom preceded her in death. 

       On May 7, 1955, in Norwalk, OH, she married the love of her life, Paul J. Sechrist, who survives in Chesterton, IN. 

       She is also survived by her loving children: George Sechrist (Tammy) of Littleton, CO, Barbara Cavender (Lee) of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Linda Bottom (Russ) of Lincoln, IL; her son-in-law, Mitch Haas of Fairfield, IA; her treasured grandchildren: Annie (Ross) Leavitt, Laura (Nathan) Seldomridge, Daniel Sechrist, David (Jessica) Sechrist, Sarah (Gideon) Nocero, Timothy Cavender, Hannah (Greg) Hansen, Matthew Cavender, Jasmine Bottom, and Chloe Bottom; and 12 adoring great-grandchildren. 

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Carol, in 2007, and by her sisters, Mary and Betty. 

       Patricia was active in the John Birch Society. 

       She loved flower and vegetable gardening and enjoyed canning and freezing fruit and vegetables.

       She was passionate about sharing health information for healing with diet and holistic measures.  She touched many lives through her career as a Family Health Nurse Practitioner. 

       Patricia showed her love through food. She was an excellent cook and phenomenal pie maker.

       Patricia was a sister in Christ, prayer warrior and a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. 

       Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church of South Haven, 760 McCool Rd., Valparaiso, IN. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be held at Chesterton Cemetery the following day. 

       Memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army of Porter County, 799 Capitol Rd., Valparaiso, IN 46385.
