Norman Johnston Moore, age 87 formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020. He was born on April 12, 1933 in Chicago, IL to George and Elizabeth Moore, both of whom preceded him in death.
On February 15, 1958 in Chicago, IL, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Moore (Johnson), who survives. He is also survived by his loving children: Brenda (Howard) Head, Brian (Michelle) Moore, and Barry (Lorna) Moore; his adoring grandchildren: Nathan Head, Ian Moore, Marissa Moore, Victoria Moore, Douglas Moore, Cassandra (Jacob) Long, Ethan Ogorek, Taylor Ogorek; his adoring great grandchildren: Abigail Long, William Long, and Gabrielle Long; and by his loving sister, Cecelia Weigman (Moore).
Norm graduated from Bethel College in St. Paul, MN with BA in Philosophy. After college, Norm proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending time in Korea as part of the peacekeeping forces. Faith and family were the two pillars of Norm’s life. Norm was a long time member of Elim Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. He lived out his faith as deacon, usher, Stockade leader, Awana leader and wherever else he could volunteer in the church. He was also a proud member of Gideons International. He loved spending time with family and as a loving grandfather he wanted to invest time in all of his grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of the family and the community at large, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
