Myrna (Linn) Brown Obituary

Myrna H. (Linn) Brown, 90, of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020.

She was born in McKeesport, PA on September 26, 1929 to James and Margaret Hodder. On May 5, 1951 she married Harry E Linn. Together they moved to Chesterton and raised their family. After Harry’s passing, Myrna married Ralph Brown, who also preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Schuette of Dravosburg, PA, her sister-in-law, Charlotte Linn also of Dravosburg, her children, Carol Campbell of Chesterton, David (Patricia) Linn of Chesterton, and Shari (Daniel) Hofstadter of Tucson, AZ, her grandchildren Dawn (Thomas) Matthys, Heather (Daniel) Miles, Andrea (Jeff) Goodin, Kristy (David) Dukes, David R. Linn, Adam Linn, Sarah Hofstadter, and Liana Hofstadter. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Abygail Matthys, Madelyn Matthys, Jacob (Olivia) Miles, Emily Miles, Hannah Miles, Kayla Dukes, and Kellan Dukes. She also loved and was beloved by her nieces and nephews.

 

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lenore Fassinger, her nephew, John Fassinger, and her brother-in-law, William Linn.

 

Myrna will be remembered as our beloved mother and grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a gift for sewing, knitting, crafts, and in particular her beaded ornaments. As a young woman she worked for Bell Telephone.

 

Having moved to Chesterton in 1961, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Dunes and then St. John’s United Church in Chesterton, and used her crafting and sewing talents for charity at church fairs.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.  Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, one of Myrna’s favorite charities.
