Maxine Margaret (Erickson) Rankin

         Maxine Margaret Rankin, age 79 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on October 25, 2020 in Scottsdale, AZ.  She was born on July 31, 1941 in Gary, IN to Wesley and Fannie (Wiesemann) Erickson, both of whom preceded her in death.  

       On March 4, 1961, in Valparaiso, IN, she married the love of her life, Dale Rankin, who survives in Chesterton, IN. She is also survived by her loving children: Jeffrey (Carolyn) Rankin of Floral Park, NY, Suzanne (John) Gerster of Fort Collins, CO and Jody (David) Lyons Glendale, AZ; her seven adoring grandchildren: Kohl Gerster, Christian Gerster, Gianna Gerster, Ella Gerster, Genevieve Rankin, Erickson Rankin, and Edward Rankin; and by her sister, Arlene Hafeman.

       Maxine was an Instructional Aide at Westchester Middle School for many years and loved working with children. She was also a member of the Chesterton Junior Women’s Club.  Maxine was the Porter Centennial Queen in 1958 and participated in the Porter Sesquicentennial in 2008.  Maxine and her husband resided in Phoenix, AZ for 35 wonderful years before recently returning to Chesterton. While living in Arizona, she worked as a realtor. She loved entertaining and hosting family for holiday parties.  She also loved tending to her flower garden.

       The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. 

       Per Governor’s order, masks/facial coverings are required at all times while at the funeral home. Please practice social distancing inside and outside the funeral home.
