Matthew Stephens

       Matthew Stephens, age 32 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on March 22, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1992, in Valparaiso, IN to Craig Robert Stephens, who preceded him in death, and Carol Schnadenberg, who survives in Chesterton, IN.

       He is also survived by his loving son, Arlo; his longtime girlfriend and Arlo’s mother, Karla Shelbourne; his sisters: Holly (Brent) Bradford and Echo (Jason) Denny; his nieces and nephews: Brooklyn, Ian, Jason, and Ellery; his aunts and uncles: Linda Bowman, John (Karan) Schnadenberg, Debbie (Randy) Phillips, and Steve Schnadenberg; and by his many cousins.

       In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his cousins, Josh Phillips and Kyle Olson; his maternal grandmother, Jeanette Schnadenberg; and by his paternal grandparents, Eleanor and William “Doc” Walters.

       Matthew was passionate about music and skateboarding. He could always make you laugh and had a heart of gold. His biggest accomplishment in life is his son Arlo and he loved him dearly. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He is gone too soon and will be missed by all of those that loved him. 

       Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Steve Buschelt officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. 

       Memorial donations may be given to Arlo’s college fund.
