Mary Louise Weitzel

       Mary Louise Weitzel, age 90 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1932 in Gary, IN to John Maddack and Helen Fauver  Maddack-Watkins, both of whom preceded her in death. 

       She married the love of her life, Donald Weitzel, on June 21, 1956. They were married for 66 wonderful years. 

       She is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her children: Donna (Ralph) Scherer of Racine, WI, Donny (Tina) Weitzel of Chesterton, IN, Sandy (Mike) Harper of Payne, OH, Jim (Sally) Weitzel of Valparaiso, IN, and Tom (Raquel) Weitzel of Round Lake, IL; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marilyn Jones of Chesterton, IN; and by her many nieces and nephews. 

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: John Maddack, Don Maddack, and Lois Luke; and by her step-father, James Watkins. 

       Mary was a devoted member of Duneland Community Church for over 50 years. She loved cooking for her friends and family. 

       Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Duneland Community Church, 1552 Pioneer Trail, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Greg Arthur officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
