Margaret Mary Heslin

       Margaret Mary Heslin, age 84 of Chesterton, IN, formerly of Whiting, IN, passed away on August 24, 2023. She was born on September 28, 1938, in Villa Park, IL to Ernest and Esther (Sohmers) Briggen, both of whom preceded her in death. 

       She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John Daniel Heslin; her loving children: Mark (Deanna) Heslin of Chesterton, IN, and Patricia (Chris) Trotta of St. Charles, IL; her grandchildren: Rebekah (Kyle) Johnson, Kaitlynn Heslin, Sarah (Zach) Clark, Megan Heslin (Austin Farmer), Jacob Heslin, and Isabella Trotta; her great-grandchildren: Stella, Isa, Reid, and Jayden; and by her sister, Betty Paulsen of Jacksonville, FL.

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sharon Peterson, and by her son-in-law, Alvy Peterson. 

       Margaret was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Michigan City. She, along with her husband and son, were the proud co-owners of Hadj Cycling and Fitness in Whiting and Southlake Cycling and Fitness in Merrillville. 

       Throughout her lifetime, she had many interests. Some of those were bicycling, reading, bird watching, and caring for her home and yard. She also had a love for Lake Michigan as well as water-walking and visiting with friends at the health club. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

       A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Saint Ann of the Dunes Church, 433 Golf Wood Road, Beverly Shores, IN with Fr. Jon Plavcan officiating.
