Margaret Rose (Hojcus) Anderson

Margaret Rose Anderson, age 97 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 with her family at her side. She was born on March 16, 1926 in Braddock, PA to Andrew and Magda Hojcus, both of whom preceded her in death. 

On March 8, 1952, she married the love of her life, Edward Anderson, who preceded her in death in January of 2015. They first met after the war at his gas station in Whiting , Indiana. They were married for 63 wonderful years.

She is survived by her loving children: Judy (Chuck) Stewart of Valparaiso, IN and William Anderson of Chesterton, IN; her grandson, Chuck (Mary Ann) Stewart of Chicago, IL; and by her great-grandson, Cillian James Stewart. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Edward Anderson on November 24, 2022; and by her siblings: Peter, Rudy, and Mary. 

Margaret was an active member of St. John’s United Church in Chesterton, where she participated in the Woman Guild, was a member of the choir, and was a Deacon. 

In her free time, she loved spending time outdoors, tending to her yard and  flowers. She took great pride in everything she did.  She was also a member of the Chesterton Garden Club and TOPS. 

She and her husband  loved going to Purdue basketball games and  attended many Purdue football bowl games.

She will be missed by her friends and family.  

 Private family services will be held at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. A private burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Westchester Meals at St. John UNITED Church, 225 W Lincoln Ave, Chesterton, IN.
