Lloyd “Kitt” Edwin Kittredge

Lloyd E. Kittredge, February 3, 1940 – July 4, 2021 (age 81)

       Lloyd ‘Kitt’ Edwin Kittredge passed away at Storypoint Chesterton on Sunday, July 4 at 11:24 pm at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 57 years, Darlene Lois Kittredge. They were married in Sheboygan, WI on March 21, 1964.

       Lloyd was a loyal community member, devoted family man and is lovingly remembered by his family: daughter Kari (Todd) Zehner of Chesterton IN; son Lloyd ‘Buck’ (Aurora) Kittredge of Chesterton IN; daughter Kelly (Tom) Brooks of Wildwood MO; grandchildren Doug and Elizabeth ‘Biz’ Zehner, Holly and  Nicolas ‘Nico’ Kittredge, Alec and Lauren Brooks; sisters Ada Hiller of Valparaiso IN and Jennifer (Harry) Tice of Three Rivers MI; nephew Kent Hiller of Carmel IN and niece Anna Tice of Riverside, CA. Our extended love, appreciation and gratitude to his caregiver and a true family friend, Sharon Morris, and the many dear friends, clinicians, and neighbors whose lives he affected.

       Lloyd was born in Valparaiso, IN on February 3, 1940 to Roy and Vesta (Kraft) Kittredge. He graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1958 and attended both Indiana University and Valparaiso University. He enlisted and served in the Marine Corps. He was an avid sailor, Eagle Scout, member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS), member of the Free Masons for 50+ years, singer, dog and cat lover, and loved to tinker in the garage at every chance. Lloyd retired from marine craft surveying which allowed him to follow his passion for sailing and all things watercraft. He led a rich and full life.

       Visitation will be held at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN 46304 on Thursday, July 8 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

       Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN 46304 on Friday, July 9 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by the funeral service beginning at 10:30 am.

       Interment to follow at Chesterton Cemetery, 300 East Porter Avenue, Chesterton, IN 46304. A reception luncheon will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church following interment.

       In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westchester Migratory Bird Sanctuary via their website or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
