Dr. Kenneth Jack Brock age 87, born in Pampa Texas, survived by his wife of 62 years Victoria Brock, his daughter Michael Anne Gawronski, and his grandson Riley Gawronski. Dr. Brockearned a B.S in geology at San Jose State. He joined the Navy earning the rank of 1st lieutenant, as an aircraft navigator receiving the Vietnam Service Medal. Following his military service, he earned his PhD in minerology from Stanford University. After graduating he became a professor at IUN before becoming the Dean of Art’s and Science. He was a lifelong birdwatcher, encouraging others to appreciate the Indiana Dunes and Ornithology by guiding birding trips. Afrequent contributor to the Indiana Audubon Society and author of Birds of the Indiana Dunes and Compact Guide to Indiana Birds. Dr. Brock was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash Award and the Ludlow Griscom award.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 3 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
