Juanita (Krone) Sheets

       Juanita Sheets, age 97 of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 28, 1924 to C. Robertson and Auda (Duvall) Krone, both of whom preceded her in death. 

       She is survived by her loving children: Linda (Phillip) Griffith of Valparaiso, IN, Robert (Pat) Sheets of Crown Point, IN, Phyllis Goin of Valparaiso, IN, Richard (Josefine) Sheets of Portage, IN, and Nancy (Robert) Talley of Munster, IN; her seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and by her sister-in-law, Donna Hamm of Liberty Township. 

       She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Sheets in 2003; her sister, Dorothy; her aunt Dorothy Fahey; and by her granddaughters, Stephanie and Rebecca. 

       Juanita was an devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was active in women’s groups.

       She and her husband were incredibly active in their children’s lives. They loved traveling through western America, visiting relatives, and making wonderful family memories along the way. When her children were young, she enjoyed being Girl Scout and Cub Scout leaders. 
 

       Although she never obtained a driver’s license, she had her pilot’s license. She enjoyed flying her Piper Cub airplane. She also loved sewing, and even made a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses for her friend’s daughter. 

       Her love of classical music began at a young age, when she began playing the violin in high school.  

       She was a phenomenal cook, and making meals for her family was one of her greatest joys.

       Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 12 p.m. at. Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Ruth Popkin officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. 

       The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family requests that all who enter the funeral home and church please wear a mask.

       Memorial donations in honor of Juanita may be given to the Bethlehem Lutheran Good Samaritan Fund.
