Joyce Kozinski Obituary

Joyce E. Kozinski
March 5, 1937 - March 26, 2021

On March 26 at 5 p.m., we lost a faithful woman of God, Joyce E. Kozinski (Peacock). Joyce, of La Porte, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 84. We celebrate her journey home but grieve at the vacant spot she leaves here on earth.

Mrs. Kozinski was born on March 5, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to William Charles and Sigrid (Berg) Peacock.

She spent her life volunteering and serving others while working for St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, Quality Bakery, The Salvation Army, Sears, Lowe’s and St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital of Michigan City. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for more than 40 years.

Joyce will always be remembered by her family, friends and colleagues as a kind and gentle woman who lived in her Lutheran faith. She was always a bright light, with a great sense of humor, and enjoyed talking to people and visiting with loved ones. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her family members, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her were truly blessed.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Francis, Cynthia and Renee; her husband, Paul J. Kozinski; and brother, Ronald Peacock.

She is survived by her brother, William (Kathy) Peacock of Jonesburrow, Georgia; brother, Roger (Carla) Peacock of Louisville, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Cathy (Ronald) Peacock of Medina, Ohio; son, David (Penny) Kozinski of Porter, Indiana; daughter, Elizabeth Brownlee of La Porte, Indiana; daughter, Sharon Kozinski of La Porte, Indiana; daughter, Linda (Charles) Dant of Michigan City, Indiana; daughter, Suzanne Kozinski (Ray Weiss) of La Porte, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and her dearest friend, Lovel McFadden - the sister she always wanted.

While our hearts here on earth are heavy with loss, we praise God for the hope we have in Christ. Death isn't an end, but a beautiful beginning for Joyce. We rejoice knowing that she is finally basking in the glory of Christ.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton, Indiana. Burial will be immediately after at Chesterton Cemetery, 300 E. Porter Ave., Chesterton, Indiana, 46304. (Masks and social distancing are required.)
