Joshua “Josh” A. Pytynia, age 48 of Porter, IN, passed away suddenly on August 1, 2023. He was born on July 7, 1975 in Michigan City, IN to John and Mary (Kolodiej) Pytynia, both surviving in Michigan City, IN.
On August 7, 2004, he married the love of his life, Angela (Shatka) Pytynia, who survives in Porter, IN. He is also survived by his loving children: Christian, Janelle, Vivianne, and Gemma; his sister, Meredith Grow; his nephews: Nick, Jacob, Finn, and Jameson; and by his church family.
Joshua was a beloved and faithful Christian, husband, father, son, and friend. He spent over 25 years of his life teaching underprivileged children the Bible while bringing them to church through the bus ministry. Much of that time was also spent in serving the elderly in a local nursing home ministry. There he led songs and preached and taught the Bible. One of his greatest desires was for his children and to all he ministered to come to know the God he loved and served.
Although Josh was a very hard worker and provider for his family, he loved spending time with his children. He was blessed to be able to take a family vacation shortly before he passed away making special memories with them. His family recalls him often playing chess and becoming quite advanced the longer he played. But probably the greatest memory is of him with a Bible or verse cards in his hands, spending quiet time with God. His walk with God was real and its influence will impact his family and others for many years to come.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
