John “Jack” C. Lindenmeyer Jr., age 84 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on December 6, 2023. He was born on November 29, 1939 in Michigan City, IN to John C. Lindenmeyer Sr. and LaVerne (Reese) Lindenmeyer, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 2, 1966, he married the love of his life, Betty (Nicholson) Lindenmeyer, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2022.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Julia (Steven) Waltz of Furnessville, IN and Susan (Maurice) Del Rosario of Grovetown, GA; his treasured grandchildren: Nathan (Rosie) Waltz of Chicago, IL, Timothy Oberlie, Nicole Oberlie, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Hess, Jaime Del Rosario, and Emily Del Rosario; and by his treasured great-grandchildren, Lincoln Hess and Parker Hess.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amy Lindenmeyer on January 14, 2019, and his brother, Ralph Lindenmeyer.
He graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City and was a proud Eagle Scout. Jack honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the DD-470 USS Bache.
He was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and loved his farm tractor, gardening, and his cats. He was also very active in bowling leagues over the years.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Ruth Popkin officiating. Burial will follow at Furnessville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.
Memorials in memory of Jack may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN; or please bring a toy for the Toys for Tots box at the funeral home.
