John Joseph Moffitt Jr.

       John Joseph Moffitt Jr., age 87 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on October 16, 2020.  He was born on July 15, 1933 in Chicago, IL to John and Mary (Laughlin) Moffitt, both of whom preceded him in death.

       He is survived by his loving children: Deborah (Claude) Brumm of Spring Grove, IL, Linda (Edward) Riordan of Crossville, TN, and John T. Moffitt of St. Charles, IL; his adoring grandchildren: Christine Hardy, Brian Dunne, Travis Moffitt, Jessica Moffitt, and John Christian Moffitt; his loving great-great grandchildren: Madison, Kaitlin, and Zaylee; by his siblings: Mary Agnes Dwyer of LaGrange, IL and William (Janet) Moffitt of Naperville, IL; and by his sister-in-law, Nancy Moffitt.

       He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janet Moffitt on June 30, 2010, and by his siblings: Joan, Michael, Dennis, Margaret, and Lawrence. 

       John was a member of the Local Operator Union of Chicago, as well as a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He loved golfing and worked at The Brassie Golf Club three days a week. One of his favorite hobbies was rooting for the Arizona Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.

       Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2^nd St., Chesterton, IN.  A visitation will follow the funeral service at the funeral home until 12 p.m. For the protection of the family and the community, masks/facial coverings are required at all times while at the funeral home. 

       A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 6001 W 111th St #6072, Alsip, IL 60803.
