Obituary
Joan A. Brickner, age 89 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on June 8, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1933, in Bloomfield, NJ, to Lester and Irene (Pullen) Bogart, both of whom preceded her in death.
On February 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Russell Brickner, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2000.
She is survived by her loving children: Steve Brickner, Renee Dyer, Raymond Brickner, and Paul Brickner, all of Chesterton, IN; her adoring grandchildren: Paul (Allison) Dehnart, Mark Dehnart, Jessica Jacobs, Joshua (Samantha) Dyer, and Courtney Bobier; her step-grandchildren: Angie (Dan) Welch, Tony (Lorra) Dyer, Chris (Greta) Dyer, Tim Dehnart, and Justin Dehnart; her loving great-grandchildren, who always brought her great joy and kept her young at heart; and by her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Donna Dehnart; and by her two sisters, Doris Miller and Gladys Mound.
Joan's greatest joys in life were her family, traveling, and Dolly Parton. Throughout her life she enjoyed many family vacations, visiting her parents and sisters at the Jersey shore, and motorhoming with Russell in retirement. After his passing, she continued to enjoy traveling and cruising with the kids and grandkids. Joan was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St, Chesterton, IN, with Rev. Erik Bernth officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
