James "Jim" E. Killosky

       James E. Killosky, former Chesterton Police Chief, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2020 at the age of 78.  He was born on November 15, 1941 in Gary, IN to Alexander and Alexandria “Olga” (Sulkowski) Killosky, both of whom preceded him in death.  

       On September 7, 1962 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, he married the love of his life, Madelaine Killosky, who preceded him in death on September 10, 2006.

       He is survived by his loving sons, Mike (Jeanne) Killosky of Chesterton, IN and Matt Killosky of Zionsville, IN; his grandchildren, Jordan Killosky and Mallory Killosky; his sister, Geraldine Ranalli of Chesterton, IN; and by his many nieces and nephews.

       He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alexander Joseph Killosky Jr., and by his niece, Charlotte Jean Kolasa.  

       Jim was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.  He loved cars, fishing, golfing, boating, and watching sporting events. Being a police officer was his whole life.  He started working at Chesterton Police Department, starting out as a patrolman, then detective, and ultimately became the Chief of Police. When he retired from the Chesterton Police force, he moved to Las Vegas, where he worked for the Clark County School District Police. He was also the President of the Chief of Police Association, which was recognized nationwide.

       Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 6 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN with Father Jerry Schweitzer officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. For the safety of the family and the community, masks/facial coverings are required at all times while at the funeral home. Please practice social distancing inside and outside the funeral home.
