James “Jim” Brent Givens

       James “Jim” Brent Givens, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 2nd, with his family by his side. He was born on December 24th, 1939, in Steubenville, OH, and lived in Weirton, WV, and Chesterton, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Kaye Givens (née Swartz); his father, Harry Givens Sr.; his mother, Audrey Givens (née Parsons); and his sister, Jacquelyn Vascheresse.

       Jim is survived by his brother, Harry (Rosemarie) Givens Jr.; daughters, Cynthia Kanczuzewski and Wendy (Tim) Miles; grandchildren: Alexis (Matt) Gage, Chris (Crista) Virtue, Drew Miles, Ryan (Rachel) Miles, Cameron Kanczuzewski, and Madelyn Kanczuzewski; several great-grandchildren: Gloria Gage, Penny Virtue, Charlie Virtue, and Josephine Virtue; and his companion, Sue Parks.

       He graduated from Follansbee High School in 1958. He worked 44 years for Weirton and National Steel. He was a member of the Midwest Steel Retirees Club. He loved swimming, running, walking, playing the piano and guitar, going out to eat for breakfast, watching golf, but most of all, spending time with his family.

       Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N Mineral Springs Rd, Porter, IN 46304, with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. The family will receive loved ones and friends on Monday, April 7th, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN.
