James had many varied interests, including railroad history, stamp collecting, archaeology, and military history, particularly the Civil War. James loved spending time in the woods and salmon fishing with his many friends, sons, and grandson at Lake Michigan and Trail Creek. He also enjoyed his 30+ years working on the South Shore Railroad, and made friends wherever he went. Later in life, he was especially fond of his black cat, Guinness. James will forever be remembered as a wonderful and one-of-a-kind father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
