James Allen Obituary

       James F. Allen, age 79, passed away on January 9, 2026.  He was born on January 5, 1947 in Burbank, CA.  He was the son of John and Hazel Dixon Allen, both of whom preceded him in death.

       He married Krista Blacketer Allen on April 20, 1996, who survives.  Also surviving are his children: Paulette Gee of Las Vegas, NV, Sandra Topp of Northern CA, Candace Allen of Littleton, CO, and Andrew Allen of Queen Creek, AZ; sister, Judy Vess of California; 6 grandchildren; and several Great-grandchildren. 

       He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack Allen, Jerry Allen and sister, Joan Heard, and grandson, Paulo Pena. 

       He lived in the Los Angeles area and attended Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley and Los Angeles Valley College. 

       He worked as a musician for many years and was a well-known bass player.  He got to know many famous musicians.  James was also noted for having perfect pitch. He was written about by his producer friend, Jay Graydon. 

       Moving to Indiana in 1980, he worked as a HVAC technician for 40 years. 

       Jim enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, singing karaoke, and watching college football.  He was past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of Elks Michigan City 432.

       He was also a member of the American Legion 170 and Chesterton Moose Lodge 1623.  

       Burial will be at Vermilion Grove Cemetery Ridge Farm, IL, at a later date.
