Jacqueline Cohen Obituary

       Jacqueline M. Cohen, age 100 of East Chicago, IN, passed away on March 9, 2026.  She was born on February 18, 1926, in Gary, IN to John Edward and Lillian (Hughes) McKenna, both of whom preceded her in death.

       She is survived by her loving children, Leslie Cohen Buff of Porter, IN and Dr. Mark D. Cohen (Cheryl) of Albany, GA; her treasured grandchildren: Timothy, Patrick, Darren, Alexander, Lindsey, Natalie Abell, and Nicole Abell-Shumate; her adoring great-grandchildren: Edison, Maggie, Josephine, George, Otto, Madison, Aubrey, Kaia, Ronin, and one to be named; her sister-in-law Alice McKenna; and her niece and nephew, Elaine Marie McKenna and Thomas Charles McKenna.

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jacques D. Cohen; and siblings: John H. McKenna, William E. McKenna, and Thomas C. McKenna.

       Jacqueline loved cooking, reading, golfing, and dancing. She especially loved her Airedale, Kammie. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

       A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N Calumet Rd, Chesterton, IN, with Father Jon Plavcan officiating.

       Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
