Jack Batz Obituary

       Jack Andrew Batz, age 84 of Burns Harbor, IN, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2021.  He was born on November 9, 1936 in Burdick, IN to John and Martha (Yagalski) Batz, both of whom preceded him in death. 

       On August 18, 1976, he married the love of his life, Catherine (Smith) Batz, who survives in Burns Harbor.   He is also survived by his loving children: Jackie (Jack) Cook of Brentwood, CA, Eric Batz of Brentwood, CA, Brandy Batz of Venice, CA, Aaron (Stephanie) Batz of Burns Harbor, IN, and Christopher (Tran Kim) Batz of Saigon Vietnam; his treasured grandchildren: Cecelia, Charlotte, Jack, Jennifer, and Brandon; his adoring great-grandchild, Brayden; his brother, James (Elaine) Batz of Arizona; his favorite niece, Tami Cheesbrough Hengesbaugh of Illinois; his nephew, Timothy Cheesbrough; and brother-in-law, Cal Cheesebrough of Niles, MI.

       He was also preceded in death by his loving son, Kevin Batz; and by his sisters, Christine Cheesbrough and Jeanine Batz.

       Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at US Steel from 1954-1964. Then, in 1964, he became the proud owner of Jack’s Gun Shop, which is now known as Cash Indiana, located in Burns Harbor, Lake Station, and Michigan City. He was an avid trap shooter, hunter, fisherman, and duck hunter.  

       A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. A private interment will be held prior to the service.
