J. Dean Cory

       J. Dean Cory, aged 56 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 23, 2026. He was born on February 20, 1970, in Valparaiso, IN to Robert D. and Sarah K. (Davis) Cory who both survive in Valparaiso, IN.

       On May 12, 1990, he married Bobbi Lynn Rizer from Chesterton, IN. Their union was dissolved on August 13, 2007.

       Along with his parents and former wife, Dean is survived by his sons, James Dean Cory, II, of Angola, IN and Daniel Robert Cory of Chesterton, IN.

       He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lester Alexander Cory, Erma Dean Cory, George Davis, Helen Davis; Great-grandparents Daniel Hollback and Sarah Hollback.

       Dean became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America in 1986.

       On June 9, 1995, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

       Dean was a HUGE racing fan. His favorite race of all time was the Indianapolis 500. Dean was faithful in watching this race every year when it aired. In fact, he was anticipating the race just hours prior to his passing. Dean also enjoyed Formula 1 racing. Dean was also a hockey fan. He grew up watching the Chicago Blackhawks and later enjoyed attending Quad City Mallard games. Dean also enjoyed watching Drum Corps International competitions.  Dean also had a hobby over the years of radio-controlled vehicles. His latest one was a radio-controlled semi. He also enjoyed model rockets and slot car racing. Dean enjoyed playing various video games with his two boys, J.D. and Daniel. He also was into short wave radio.

       Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St, Chesterton, IN.  The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Ohio at a later date.
