She was born on January 13, 1933, in Bangor, WI to William F. and Helen V. (Schaller) Gasper, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 26, 1954, in Middle Ridge, WI, she married Virgil R. Heying, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving children: Janet (Manuel) Koutelas of Valparaiso, IN; Mark (Pam Monson) Heying of White Cloud, MI; Jill (Donald) Burns of Michigan City, IN; Jeanne (Miki) Kasai of Alexandria, VA; Judy (Jeffrey) Fitzpatrick of Mount Carroll, IL; Julie (David) Sanchez of Naperville, IL; Jennifer (Dominick) Manco of Fort Wayne, IN; and Jami Heying of Valparaiso, IN; her adoring grandchildren: Krist (Sara), Leigh, John (Mirjana), Adam, Ryan (Francine), Megan (Jonathan), Anthony (Judy), Melissa, Nicholas, Marcus, Benjamin, Sophia, Ethan, Silas, Braeden, Emmanuel (Candee), and Christina; and by her treasured great-grandchildren: Tyg, Zanna, Grayson, Ryleigh, Alexis, Anna, Spencer, Tabitha, Morgan, and Madison.
She is also survived by her loving siblings: Muriel Doll of La Crosse, WI; Thomas (Doris) Gasper of Onalaska, WI; Daniel (Suzie) Gasper of Newark, CA; Stephen (Sharon) Gasper of Cambridge, WI; and Barbara (Dennis) Mlsna of Cashton, WI, and a sister-in-law: Dorene Theisen Leo of West Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends from the YMCA and Red Hats groups.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers: William Gasper, Dennis Gasper, and Carl Gasper; her sisters, Marie Doll and Marjorie Schmitt; her brothers-in-law, Vernon Doll, Albert Doll, Robert Schmitt, Marvin Heying, Ronald Heying, Harold Theisen, and Guido Leo; and by her sisters-in-law, Delores Gasper, Mona Gasper, Maria "Charo" Gasper, and Ruth Heying.
Helen was a Qualified Medical Assistant at the Visiting Nurses Association and Whispering Pines Nursing Home for several years; however, her most important life's role was being a wonderful, loving mother to her eight children.
Helen's hobbies included sewing, baking, painting, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, putting together puzzles, bird watching, flower gardening, watching General Hospital and the Cubs games on TV, playing Words with Friends and Scrabble. She enjoyed traveling and visiting her relatives. Helen requests that those she leaves behind watch a sunset at Lake Michigan, smell the flowers, feed the birds, read a book, paint a picture, and have a nice drink for her!
