Harlean June (Peterson) Rieger

Harlean June Rieger, age 82 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2020. She was born on July 14, 1937 in Gary, IN to Harold Edward and Eunice Rose Peterson, both of whom preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her loving children: David (Janet) Rieger of Porter, IN, Lorna (James) McMeans of Porter, IN, and William (Joy) Rieger of Shelbyville, IN; her grandchildren: Michael, Brandon, Shawn, Jennifer, Justin, Keenan, and Paul; her great-grandchildren: Alissa, Michael, Caleb, Melissa, Kaylin, Christopher, Assa, and Jocylin; and by her great great-grandchildren:  Kayden, Mallory, Jordan, and Miles. 

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Glen Rieger; her beloved son, John; her beloved daughter, Laurel; and by her beloved grandson, Joshua Rieger.  

Harlean was the best cook. She loved arts and crafts and was especially talented when it came to sewing clothes for her family. She was an avid reader and gardener. She adored her dog, Molly, and her cats, Annie and Lilly. 

A private Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
