Gene Ray Yocum, age 85 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 15, 1935 in Toledo, OH to Herald and Thelma (Morris) Yocum, both of whom preceded him in death.
On November 21, 1970, he married the love of his life, Beverly (Watkins) Yocum, who survives in Chesterton. He is also survived by his loving daughters: Roxanne (Andy) Tuesburg, Rhoda Ricard, and Debora Jones; his treasured grandchildren: Bryce Allen Tuesburg, Halie Rae Tuesburg, Frank Gillespie, and Rachel Jones; his brother, Donald (Gayle) Yocum; his sister, Jane Parks; and by his three great-grandchildren.
Gene was the Pastor of a church in Colorado. He was a Royal Ranger leader, deacon and Sunday School teacher in his local church in Chesterton. He also enjoyed teaching the Bible at his home with friends and family. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and bowled for many years on different bowling leagues.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Per Porter County Government mandate, only 25 people are allowed inside the funeral home at a time.
Masks and social distancing are required at all times at the funeral home and at the cemetery.
