Elta (Whited) Cloud

       Elta Cloud, age 92 of Portage, IN, formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away on August 6, 2023.  She was born on November 19, 1930 in Jackson County, WV to Doyle and Sybil (Kelly) Whited, both of whom preceded her in death.  
       She is survived by her two sons, Jack C. (Christopher) Cloud and Craig Steven (late Karol).

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack K. Cloud; her daughter-in-law, Karol Cloud; and by her sisters: Doilena, Nedra, and Mary (Patty).

       Elta grew up on a farm in Johnson Creek, near Walton, WV, and graduated from Walton High School. She was employed by Kauffman Brothers Men’s Clothier and Shoney’s, both in Charleston, WV. She married Jack K. Cloud in April of 1957 in Charleston, WV, and they lived in Cross Lanes, WV until 1969, before moving to Chesterton, IN. Elta was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Chesterton. She served on Admin and Trustee Boards. Elta was later employed by Morgan Lumber, then Pioneer Lumber.  She retired as store clerk in the paint department.

       There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date and burial at Pinhook Cemetery.
