Elizabeth “Betty” French, age 89 of Chesterton, passed away on January 5, 2016. She was born on June 8, 1926 in Chicago, IL to William and Adalaide Murphy, both of whom preceded her in death.
In October of 1944 in Chicago, she married Charles French, who preceded her in death in 1993.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Miller of Leesburg, FL, her sons-in-law, Evan Miller Jr. and Tom Prust, her grandchildren: Evan Miller III, Tom Prust and Elizabeth Miller; five great-grandchildren, her brother, Joe Murphy, and her sister, Mary Suda.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Prust in 2012, her grandson, William Prust in 2012, one brother and three sisters.
Betty was a longtime member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. She was a tireless worker for Saint Patrick Church and school for sixty years, having taught many generations. After retirement from Saint Patrick’s School, she worked in the Duneland schools and was fondly remembered as Bailly school librarian.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Road, Chesterton with Father James Meade officiating. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4 until 8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton.
