Elizabeth Mae Peterson, age 85 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 18, 1936 in Joliet, IL to John and Marian (Hutton) Mammosser, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving children: Kimberley (Jamie) Robinson of Milwaukee, WI, Duane (Mary) Peterson of Chesterton, IN, Bonnie (Scott) Hadley of Potterville, MI, Penny Lammers of Porter, IN, Roberta Peterson of Burns Harbor, IN, and Anthony Peterson of New Port Richey, FL; her treasured grandchildren: Taija Robinson, Trinity Robinson, Téalin Robinson, James Peterson, Kristina Peterson, Alexander Cummings, Kaitlynn Loveland, Samantha DuMond, Joshua Lammers, Brooke (Tim) Melcher, Sydney Braveman, Dominic Braveman, and Van Peterson; her adoring great-grandchildren: Wesley Peterson, Vivian Peterson, Ilitah Simmons, Peyton Melcher, and Parker Melcher; and by her siblings: Katherine (late Richard) Grove, Donna (Robert) Locknar, Patricia (late John) Fisher, Margaret Arnold, and James Mammosser.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving son, Kevin Peterson, in 2009 and by her brother, John “Jack” Mammosser.
Elizabeth was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was also the proud owner of Tiny Town Florist and was a cook at The Port Drive-In. She also worked in childcare, at Barr Films, Duneland School Corporation, American Micro Med, and WiseWay. She was incredibly devoted to her family and friends, and she also contributed to several organizations. She loved flower design and gardening.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N Calumet Rd, Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Cemetery.
