Doris Dougherty Obituary
Doris Marie (Johnson) Dougherty, age 85 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on March 18, 2019 in Chesterton. She was born on July 14, 1933 in Chesterton to Robert and Myrtle Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 25, 1955 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, she married George H. Dougherty, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Doris is survived by her loving children: Jeaneen Dougherty of Chesterton, Keith (Beth) Dougherty of Valparaiso, and Kelly (Tim) Dougherty-Reed of Avon, IN; her grandchildren: Rachel (John) Michalec of Valparaiso, Kelsey (Max) Heeps of Los Angeles, CA, Joe (Jenna) Dougherty of Valparaiso, Nathan (Brittany) Reed of San Francisco, CA, and Megan (Dan Snyder) Reed of Valparaiso; her great-grandchildren, Dallas Michalec of Valparaiso and Remy Reed of San Francisco, CA; her brother-in-law, Kenneth (Mary) Dougherty of Jacksonville, FL; and by her numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Johnson and by her sister, Gloria Hughart.
Doris was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for many years. She loved being remembered as “The Ben Franklin Lady.” She also worked at the Coke and Coffee Shop, Rax, and she especially loved working at Antiques 101 and 102. She was also the founding member of Ladybugs, a widow’s social group.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Erik Grayvold officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.
