Dennis Peter Maris

Dennis Peter Maris, age 92 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 10, 1927 to Petros and Nickoleta Margaris, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving children: Peter G. (Jeanine) Maris, Theodore Maris, Nicole (Costantino) Melone, and Angelica Maris; his grandchildren: Katie (Joseph Nikko) Rodriguez, Costantino Melone Jr., Michael (Christa) Maris, Cheyanne Motkowicz, and Dominic Maris; and his great granddaughter, Sophia Maris.  Dennis was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathleen Alexandria Maris, his son, Anthony Dennis Maris, and his grandchild, Chane Dennis Maris. 

Dennis proudly owned the Jefferson Hotel and Denny’s Deli in Hammond for many years. He was also an avid Cubs fan. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave, Hammond, IN 46324. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
