Christopher Wratten, age 72 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on June 1, 2023. He was born on July 24, 1950 in Kalamata, Greece. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Grace (Scott) Wratten, and his brother, Tim Wratten.
On January 28, 1978, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, he married the love of his life, Paula (Kranik) Wratten, who survives in Chesterton, IN. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Wratten of Los Angeles, CA; his numerous nieces and nephews and their children, who he loved dearly; his sisters-in-law, Helen Wratten of Valparaiso, IN, Gege (Dottie) Rogers of Lake Wales, FL, Dana (Tim) LaMere of Crown Point, IN, Miki (Bill) Weirich of Marion, IN, and Jackie Wilson of Chesterton, IN; and by his brother-in-law, George (Linda) Kranik of Crown Point, IN.
Christopher proudly served his country and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army on November 19, 1976. He owned Leonard’s Restaurant from 1988-2003, and during those 15 years, he was a fatherly figure to several dishwashers and a mentor to kids of all ages. He was a generous person to many, and he enjoyed feeding various Chesterton High School athletic teams. He was a people person who could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Chris was a huge White Sox and IU fan, and faithfully followed the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, and even the Cubs, and enjoyed watching college football and basketball. His greatest joy was being at home, either working in his yard, planting flowers or visiting with family and friends. Chris was a devoted husband and father, he loved life, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 5 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN officiated by the Very Reverend Jon Plavcan. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Immediately following, there will be a celebration of life at Gelsosomos Pizzeria in Chesterton.
