Charles Pratt Sr.

       Charles Pratt, Sr., age 93 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on July 29, 2024. He was born on September 5, 1930 in Valparaiso, IN to Aery and Helen Pratt, both of whom preceded him in death.

       A lifelong resident of Chesterton, he graduated from Chesterton High School in the Class of 1948. He served as a radioman in US Navy during the Korean conflict. Upon his return from the service, he married Rita Ann Deiotte, the love of his life. They were married for 55 wonderful years. Charley was a self-employed electrical contractor for most of his working life.
       He is survived by his loving children: Patti Scott of Chesterton, IN, Barbara (Kevin) Kinel of Chesterton, IN, Charley (Christine) Pratt of Chesterton, IN, and Katy (Kelli) Pratt of Chesterton, IN; his grandchildren: Leslee (Tony) Sims, Brian (Jessamy) Scott, Kevin (Tracy) Scott, Aery Pratt, Tom Pratt, and Megan Pratt; and by his great-grandchildren: Alyssa Scott, Wren Scott, Lincoln Scott, Henry Scott, and Rita Scott.
       In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita (Deiotte) Pratt; his daughter, Peggy; and sons-in-law, Dennis Scott and Ric Youngren.
        The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of Chesterton Manor for the care he received living there. In addition, they appreciated the attention and care he received from the staff of Dunes Hospice. 

       No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Dunes Hospice or the Share Foundation.
