Cecelia Weibl Obituary

Cecelia M. Weibl, age 94 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024.  She was born on November 13, 1929 in Monessen, PA to Stephen and Anna (Petruff) Zilka, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 22, 1950 in Monessen, PA, she married the love of her life, Eugene Weibl, who preceded her in death on June 25, 2015.

She is survived by her loving children: Eugene (Kelly) Weibl of Burns Harbor, IN Karen Land, and Marcia (late Carl) Higgins, both of Valparaiso IN; her grandchildren: Angie (Phil) Jones, Adam (Erin) Higgins, Kelly (Joe Bailey) Higgins, Zachary Weibl, Lauren Weibl, Benjamin Weibl, and Jon Sherrick; and great-grandchildren: Madison, Mason, Isaac, Zola, and Margot.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cynthia Jackson in 2011; her brothers; and by her son-in-law, Carl Higgins.

Cecelia was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 60 years.  Being a devout Catholic, her prayers to favorite Saints were very powerful.  She loved crocheting Christmas gifts for her family and friends and made the best spaghetti, sloppy chicken, and pizzelles usually with one secret ingredient.

She was a tireless worker, maintaining two vegetable gardens, many flower beds, fruit trees and berry bushes.  Mushroom hunting in the woods was one of her favorite pass times.  The fruits of her labor were canned or frozen and shared with family and friends all year long.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN, with Father Jon Plavcan officiating.  Lunch will be served at the Church and burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.
