Beverly (Watkins) Yocum

       Beverly Yocum, age 78 of Kouts, IN, formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away on January 18, 2023. She was born on December 18, 1944 in Gary, IN to Ozzie and Vivian (Harris) Watkins, both of whom preceded her in death.  On November 21, 1970 at Liberty Bible Church, she married the love of her life, Gene Yocum, who preceded her in death on December 29, 2020.

       She is survived by her loving daughter, Roxanne (Andrew) Tuesburg of Kouts, IN; her grandchildren: Bryce Tuesburg of Moultrie, GA and Halie Tuesburg of Kouts, IN; her sisters, Nola Hall of Chesterton, IN and Barbara (Jim) Brandt of Chesterton, IN; and by her many nieces and nephews.  

       Beverly was a member of Heartland Christian Center where she was active in the woman’s prayer group and other volunteer service opportunities. Beverly loved teaching the Bible and held home Bible studies in her home with her husband Gene. Most of her adult and youth years she attended Chesterton Assembly of God where she was a Sunday School teacher for all ages, was in choir and held other leadership roles. She loved music and singing with daughter. She loved to be an encouragement to people and a mentor to many. Even in her illness she wanted to encourage others.

       She worked for Ralph Tomlin CPA for 20 years and did bookkeeping for many other small business. Beverly had many friends and was loved by all. She was on a bowling league, loved to read, shop and go out to eat with her friends. She loved the annual Birthday trips with her daughter every December.

       Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
