She was born on May 30th 1928, in Tippah County Mississippi, the daughter of Oliver and Sarrah (Hodum) Tapp. She married Doyle Dean Davis on July 8th 1944 at Randolph County Arkansas. Berniece enjoyed being with and doing for others. She participated in many volunteer activities at church, including being part of the making of bears and bunnies for the hospital. There were always plenty of stuffing and bow making at her home. She always had something cooked for someone in need or unexpected guests. Berniece was the second youngest of ten children and greatly missed her mother when she passed. Her outlet for this love was directed to someone older to whom she could help and or comfort. Berniece enjoyed china painting, quilting and loved her gardening and her flowers... especially her roses. She was a wonderful mom who cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and expressed her love with special gifts that she had handcrafted. In a reflective moment a couple years earlier, Berniece commented "Doyle and I have had a good life".

Berniece is survived by her daughter Sheilla Davis of Chesterton, Indiana, son Delton Davis of Saint Joseph Missouri, one sister; Quilla Hightower of Stanton, Tennessee, four grandchildren; Shelley Ginn (Clay) of Saint Charles MO, Andrew Davis (Cheryl) of Keizer OR, Joshua Davis (Julie) of Chesapeake VA, Jennifer Stotler (Stephen) of O'Fallon MO and nine great grandchildren.
