Mary Jane (Frommer) Butz

       Mary Jane Butz, age 62 of Porter, IN, passed away on February 6, 2024.  She was born on April 13, 1961 in Elizabeth, NJ to James and Elizabeth (Kozic) Frommer, both of whom preceded her in death.

       She is survived by her loving sons, John Butz of Michigan City, IN and Will (Hannah) Butz of Chesterton, IN; her treasured grandchildren: Zoey, Jamie, and John “Jet”; her brother, James (Annette Blair) Frommer of Pennsylvania; and her sister, Lois (James) Steward of Pennsylvania.

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Jim Butz in 2011; her husband, John Butz in 2015; and by her beloved grandchildren, Arlan and Ezri in 2020.

       Mary Jane was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She loved reading and crafting.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

       Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Ruth Popkin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.  Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
