Marcia L. (Hyde) Gaston

       Marcia L. Gaston passed away at home on February 5th, 2024. Marcia was born in LaPorte, Indiana on January 23rd, 1939 to Robert and Helen (Irwin) Hyde, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Phyllis Sutherland and Connie Hyde-Smith. On June 9th, 1962, in Chesterton, Indiana, she married Albert Gaston. Together they raised three loving children, Debbie, Lisa, and Rob (Stacy Bosley).

       Marcia graduated from Chesterton High School and earned her Bachelors in Education from Western Michigan University. During her career, she influenced many lives through her teaching. She was also very active in her church, including WELCA, altar guild and teaching Sunday school.

       Marcia was an active volunteer in the community, working at the Duneland Resale Shop and cooking for Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the sorority Delta Theta Tau. Marcia loved to cook, bake, and get together with family and friends. She especially enjoyed the times spent with her neighbors and friends from church, holiday and birthday celebrations with family, and meeting with high school friends.

       She is survived by her husband, children, sister Lucia Hyde, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1100 North, Chesterton, Indiana with Pastor Ruth Popkin officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.
