Joan Carol Politano
Joan Carol Politano, age 83 of Chesterton, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov 25 while surrounded by her adoring children and other family members. She was born to the late Robert and Kathryn Brooks on August 20, 1936.
Joan graduated from Chesterton High School in 1954 and couple of years later met the love her life, Robert, on a blind date. Joan and Robert were married on March 23, 1957 and were celebrated 60 remarkable years together.
Joan worked as a bank teller in Chicago and later for Duneland Transportation Services where she assisted students with special needs. Her greatest achievement and most important job was raising her seven children and creating the most loving environment for her 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and dozens of extended family members. She loved gardening, attracting birds, reading, writing poetry and spending time on the lake with her beloved husband, Bob. Above all, Joan was known for her incredible patience (remember – 7 children!), eternal optimism, infectious humor, unconditional love and support for everyone and most of all her selflessness. She always put the needs and wants of others before her own.
