Cary Lee Auchey, age 73 of Portage, IN, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 15, 1946 in Hanover, PA to Irvin Clair and Gladys Eleanor (Nace) Auchey, both of whom preceded him in death.

On November 28, 1986, he married the love of his life, Jane (Stottlemyer) Auchey, who survives in Portage, IN.

He is also survived by his loving children: Chris (Christine) Auchey of Spring Grove, PA, Tammy (Raymond) Auchey-Williams of Abbottstown, PA; his loving step-children: Heather (Louie) Boyer Posavac of Chesterton, IN and Mike Boyer of Newville, PA; his adoring grandchildren: Kayla Summers, Daniel Summers and Tiffany Auchey; his adoring step-grandchildren, Lukas and Andrew Posavac; and by his siblings: Gary Auchey, Mark Wayne, Eric Auchey, Flynn Auchey and Connie Auchey-Thatcher.

Cary was a light-hearted guy who loved his wife and family.  Cary loved the outdoors.  He loved to go on nature walks with his beloved dog, Sophie, and his best friend, Smitty.  Cary had a love of history and was a volunteer at the Indiana Dunes State Park.  He loved to share that love of history and his love for the great outdoors with others.  Cary was also a talented artist.  He loved wood-working and painting.  Cary created many unique works ranging from animals to replicas of local historical buildings.  Cary was a Christian. He had hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ and now his faith has become his reality! John 3:16.

I worked with Carey for many years. He was always easy going and a good worker. Missed him when he retired but glad he got to spend time with his family and enjoying life. God Bless.
